My first experience broadcasting sports over the internet was in 2008 when I duct taped an old webcam to a tripod and broadcast a high school soccer match from the Gulf Coast to Oklahoma. No graphics. No commentators. No nothing, just the video image and a bit of crowd noise picked up by the webcam mic. I'd write "Halftime" on a clipboard and flash it in front of the camera. It was primitive, but the folks in OK loved it. Since then I've broadcast several hundred soccer matches to audiences across the US and overseas. It's been a ton of fun! (P.S. We don't use the old webcam anymore!)
In the summer of 2012, I started the That VidBlaster Guy! show to help people discover my favorite software, VidBlaster. Since then things have really taken off. About half of my audience are internationals including a great friend in Australia that gets up early to see the show. I hope you'll tune in.
About The Broadcast
"One Man, One PC, One Awesome Broadcast!" is the theme for That VidBlaster Guy! which is broadcast live on Tuesdays at 3 pm ET/8 pm UK at www.ThatVidBlasterGuy.com.
The show format includes interviews with new-media professionals who use VidBlaster to stream a variety of events.
Each show focuses on a different theme starting with talk shows, sporting events, and church services. The show guests will come from those fields.
The Tips & Tricks segments includes... choosing the best capture card for your broadcast; no cost ways to optimize your PC for broadcasting; CDNs - free or paid; and using a SSD or a RAMDisk to enhance your streaming, and more. VidBlaster tutorials will include... using VVD for return video with Skype, using chromakey, using instant replay for sports, PowerPoint intergration, and more.
While the show is specifically about VidBlaster, my main goal is to prove that you can do a good broadcast using just one PC. Since many of the concepts shared in the show apply to other software/hardware products, too, I think everyone will have some good "take-aways" from the show.
Hope you'll tune in and chime in, too. Pre-show will start at 2:30ish. And stick around for the After Show, too.
