Apple: One Billion iTunes Podcast Subscriptions

Apple on Monday announced that the iTunes Store has passed 1 billion podcast subscriptions.  Apple says that the billion subscriptions are spread across 250,000 unique podcasts,100 languages, and 8 million episodes have been published in the iTunes Store to date.

Apple created a special section in iTunes to highlight some of the most popular podcasts of all time.

The section lists "classics" like This American Life, This Week in Radio Tech, and 60 Minutes in addition to popular offerings like The Adam Corolla Show, TedTalks, and NBC Nightly News. There's also a list of new and noteworthy podcasts like Conversations with Maria Menounos and The Alton Browncast.
